Wang Chau Jun, Rangoon Road, Penang

Oh my goodness! What happen to Penang? The weather is burning hot. Can anyone check that is the sun displace from its location and getting nearer to Penang? While writing this post, I am in the midst of sweating and at the same time, sipping a cool coconut drink from Abu Siti Lane. Speaking of Abu Siti Lane, of course I was nearby there today to have my lunch. I had my lunch at Wang Chau Jun today, located along Rangoon Road. Rangoon Road is located opposite of Tune Hotel at Burma Road. There is a big hair salon at the entrance of Rangoon Road and Wang Chau Jun is about at the end of the road, opposite of Lao Ba Cha (老爸茶). Lao Ba (老爸) means daddy in Chinese and Cha () means tea. So, literally, it means "Your Daddy's Tea". Don't ask me why it was known so because I don't know. Back to the story, Wang Chau Jun was one of the Four Beauties in the ancient China. Why the shop is called Wang Chau Jun? Yes, this time I know! Because one of their customers commented that its Spicy and Sour Fish Head Vermicelli is like the skin of Wang Chau Jun. I have no idea how to related a food with the skin of a human.

The dish above is Wang Chau Jun's signature dish. I threw away two big lemongrass from the dish, so they are not in the picture. It tastes spicy and sour because of the chilies, lemongrass and tomato I guess.

Steamed Fish Slice Hor Fun

The dish above is my favourite. Hor Fun is a bigger type of Kuey Tiao, which is the white one on the left. The fish slices are on the right. You have to mix them together with the soy sauce at the bottom.

Another one is Wang Chao Jun signature bean curd. It is nice as the bean curd is homemade I guess, cooked with dried shrimp. Look carefully for the dried shrimp in the picture.

The honey drumstick is not solely drumstick. You can still find other part of the chicken. Overall, the food here is nice. I had been there for many times and it is still delicious. They will place the order based on the number of heads, otherwise, you need to tell them the portion you want.

After you paid them, they will return you the order sheet. Don't expect something fancy printed out from computer. It is a traditional shop. Don't you think it looks better than printed order sheet?
