After having this nice Ais Tingkap (Window Sherbet), I walked to the street next to it to hunt for something else. Since it is so near and the weather is so hot, another bowl of Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul is absolutely perfect. In Penang, you must try out this chendul. It is located at Penang Road but the exact street name is Keng Kwee Street. It is next to Joo Hooi coffee shop.

I think the reason it is called Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul but not Keng Kwee Street Famous Teochew Chendul is that it is easier to know Penang Road as it is a main road than a small narrow street, Keng Kwee Street.

You have to mix the chendul as the palm sugar (gula Melaka) is at the bottom. A bowl of chendul consists of red beans, palm sugar (gula Melaka), coconut milk, green jelly (I don't know its name) and shredded ice. Please expect a long queue especially during weekends and holidays. But don't worry, long queue does not mean long waiting time. They are real fast and after all, I guess it is worth the wait.

Interesting part is that, normally, people will queue up to buy and have it just beside the road. However, if you wish to sit down and enjoy it, Joo Hooi allows you take in the chendul and you can order some food, maybe Penang Laksa at Joo Hooi. If not, you can walk down the road and there is a place for you to sit, I think the owner of the chendul will show you the place. So, try out this famous chendul and Ais Tingkap (Window Sherbet), just at the next street, walking distance.
